Dia Frampton. One half of Meg & Dia. Finally, I got to see her here=)
The show started with the opening act, The Impatient Sisters, who cutely pleased the crowd. Watched them at Urbanscapes but not really their set (it's just a cameo during Darren Ashley's set) so this was the first time I saw them live. Not bad. Malaysian version of Eisley, I must agree with a friend's suggestion=)
The Impatient Sisters.
About 30 minutes later, Dia Frampton showed up on stage in a lovely red dress, with her funny guitarist, Dan. She stated earlier on Twitter and again before performing the first song that she's now having cold so it may be hard for her to sing well. It was kinda proven during her first song played, 'Isabella'. She continued with 'Don't Kick The Chair' & 'Trapeze'. Slowly throughout these two songs, her beautiful voice finally prevailed over her cold. Yeay! Phewwwh~ She even rapped Kid Cudi's part in Don't Kick The Chair. Besides singing, she interacted intimately with the crowd. Telling some fun stories, arguing a lot with Dan, and she even took a fan's phone to video-record herself while singing!
Dia with her tour guitarist, Dan. He's funny.
Next, she sang songs from her debut album Red, 'Daniel', 'Walk Away' and her hit, 'The Broken Ones'. As expected, she performed some Meg & Dia songs ('Roses' & 'Love Is') and covered a lot of songs like R.E.M's 'Losing My Religion', Foster The People's 'Pumped Up Kicks', Kanye West's 'Heartless' and Ingrid Michaelson's 'The Way I Am'. Beautiful!
The show ended minutes before 10pm. It was a simple but fun acoustic set by Dia & The Impatient Sisters.
Thanks for coming, Dia! And get well soon.
Three gigs in a week at The Bee. I felt so tired I just sat at the back during her show. I need a good rest now. Zzzz.
Later~
