Dia Frampton @ The Bee, KL 2013

Dia Frampton. One half of Meg & Dia. Finally, I got to see her here=)

The show started with the opening act, The Impatient Sisters, who cutely pleased the crowd. Watched them at Urbanscapes but not really their set (it's just a cameo during Darren Ashley's set) so this was the first time I saw them live. Not bad. Malaysian version of Eisley, I must agree with a friend's suggestion=)

The Impatient Sisters.

About 30 minutes later, Dia Frampton showed up on stage in a lovely red dress, with her funny guitarist, Dan. She stated earlier on Twitter and again before performing the first song that she's now having cold so it may be hard for her to sing well. It was kinda proven during her first song played, 'Isabella'. She continued with 'Don't Kick The Chair' & 'Trapeze'. Slowly throughout these two songs, her beautiful voice finally prevailed over her cold. Yeay! Phewwwh~ She even rapped Kid Cudi's part in Don't Kick The Chair. Besides singing, she interacted intimately with the crowd. Telling some fun stories, arguing a lot with Dan, and she even took a fan's phone to video-record herself while singing!

Dia with her tour guitarist, Dan. He's funny.

Next, she sang songs from her debut album Red, 'Daniel', 'Walk Away' and her hit, 'The Broken Ones'. As expected, she performed some Meg & Dia songs ('Roses' & 'Love Is') and covered a lot of songs like R.E.M's 'Losing My Religion', Foster The People's 'Pumped Up Kicks', Kanye West's 'Heartless' and Ingrid Michaelson's 'The Way I Am'. Beautiful!

The show ended minutes before 10pm. It was a simple but fun acoustic set by Dia & The Impatient Sisters.

Thanks for coming, Dia! And get well soon.

Three gigs in a week at The Bee. I felt so tired I just sat at the back during her show. I need a good rest now. Zzzz.

The Vaccines @ The Bee, Kuala Lumpur 2013

Last night was part two of Upfront gigs series after 65daysofstatic last Tuesday. It was The Vaccines, with The Rubens as their opening act.

And it was a blast!

The Rubens opened the show with some of their hits like 'My Gun' and 'Never Be The Same'. Reminded me of Raygun (where the hell is that band now?). They were alright and it's a good opening.

Compared to last Tuesday, the venue tonight was more crowded. Again, the atmosphere and the sound system at The Bee was outstanding. Cheers bzzzzz!

 The Rubens.

Around 10pm, there came The Vaccines. They started the set with 'No Hope' from their new album 'Come of Age', followed up by 'A Lack of Understanding' & 'I Always Knew'. The crowd started to look lively during 'Wreckin' Bar'.

The band continued with their hits like 'Teenage Icon', 'Wetsuit', 'If You Wanna', 'Tiger Blood' & 'Post Break-Up Sex'. They also played a couple of songs from their new album like 'Bad Mood' & 'Ghost Town' but the one I loved the most was 'Aftershave Ocean'; it sounded fresh and different compared to their other songs.

The Vaccines.

Towards the end, they gave us 'Blow It Up', 'All In White' & finally 'Norgaard', greeted with cheers and a little cute mosh from the energetic crowd.

All in all, I enjoyed this gig so much. They really rocked the house! Upfront @ The Bee has scored two beautiful penalties out of two kicks so far this year. Awesome!

Next, Dia Frampton & Grimes!

65daysofstatic Live @ The Bee, KL 2013

Honestly, I'd never listened to their songs prior to their gig at The Bee, KL last night, but I managed to do a quick 'warm-up' listening to some of their songs on YouTube hours before. haha

But oh my... I'm so glad now that I know them and saw them live. They were amazing!

Malaysian Deepset opened the show around 8.30pm to set the mood (also, never heard of them). They killed some early technical issues with a beautiful build-up towards the end. The crowd kept coming to fill up the venue.

Minutes before 10 o'clock, 65daysofstatic was on.

...speechless.

Okay... they played tight. Energetic. The drums were noticeably crazy. They were far better live than what I heard on YouTube. And the sound system at The Bee was top-notched! Towards the end of their set, they played fans' favorites, Retreat Retreat & Radio Protector. But I really like their new stuffs being played before the two. More cool effects and tighter.

The show ended one and a half hour later. It was a fun experience. Again, I;m glad that I know them now. Post-rock/math rock is quite new to me and I think I'm used to enjoy it now. My first gig to attend at The Bee, Publika is a memorable one.

What a start to 2013.

 Thanks JuiceOnline=) yudabas!
