Meeting Circa Survive!

Finally met my hero, Anthony Green and others. They were super-nice to hang around and meet their fans before and after their set. Never expected that. (No Colin though. He might be tired.)

Hope to see them live again sometimes soon=)

Review: Iron Man 3

I came into the cinema hall with a low expectation with that thought of Iron Man 2 being a just 'okay' IM sequel. I came into the cinema hall having watched all the trailers for like hundred times. And I came into the hall with a tired body, a bit sleep-deprived after enjoying last night's awesomeness at Bentley Music Damansara.

But Iron Man 3... whoa... This movie ROCKS!

The plot: Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) had to face the Mandarin (Ben Kingsley) who caused chaos around the globe. To make it more chaotic, along came Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce) with his 'hidden' motives towards both Tony and the world. So yeah, Iron Man had to face these two. Owh, and he had to solve some issues with beloved Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) who was such a show-stealer in this new sequel.

Did it deliver? From the beginning (cue that Eiffel's Blue song) until the end credit, the story was well-delivered and told. No scratching-my-confused-head moment. The director did a good job amidst some unnecessary scenes. Minor problems. And two things I like about IM3 is that it's full of interesting twists and that the trailers and teasers did a good job to hide the important scenes/plots, and somehow managed to mess with my general understanding about the movie. Nice job, Marvel!

The cast: All of them were great. Funny RDJ & Gwyneth were a dynamic duo as usual. Watch out for Gwyneth in this; her most jaw-dropping role among the three IM movies. Ben Kingsley was great as the Mandarin as well (hell yeah, what an actor he is! I really mean that). Don Cheadle (Iron Patriot), Rebecca Hall and Jon Favreau were good too in such limited screen times. But I've reserved my greatest admiration for Guy Pearce. Holy shit! He's done it again. I thought his villainous role in Lawless as his most terrifying one, but as Aldrich Killian... Holy shit! Guy Pearce; never disappoints. Please be a Bond villain next time.

The cinematography/effects: Watch out for the final battle. So cool! Watched it in IMAX 3D, maybe that's why. Hehe. Ermm, not recommending you guys to watch it in 3D, though. Not really worth it. Most important of all, no shaky camera-works. Phewwhhh~

Planned to watch it again soon. Deserved to be watched again and again=)

Rating: 4.5/5 stars.

Iron Man 3: My Way

I am Iron Man. My suit is completely complete and awesome. But I need something... more.

Once upon a time, I met a random cat.

So I went to meet my pal, Iron-remon to borrow his stuff.

I used the machine and now it's time to meet the cat.

But an hour later...

Nobody or nothing refuses Tony Stark/Robert Downey Jr.

So I got my dream-ride...
The one I always wanted in my entire life!
I named this 'invention' of mine, FLYING-MIKA-MAN

(I'm tired of flying on my own. So, yeah... that's why.)

Lawson Live in Kuala Lumpur 2013 (Review & Photos)

Saturday, April 13th 2013. Lawson live at Stage Club, Avenue K, KL. My 10th concert I've been to this year.

Arrived at the venue quite 'late' so had to queue in a long long line, far away from Stage's entrance door. But something special happened to the 'late-comers':

We're lucky we were waiting near the backstage door so we got to see the band members came out of a van and rushed to enter the venue. Out of nowhere.

But the long-wait continued afterwards...

Entered into the venue after about an hour later. This was my second time watching a band-show here and I still don't understand why they still doing free showcase here. Heard that there were some poor fans who couldn't come in as the ground was already capacity-full. Better pick somewhere else next time, especially for a free show of a popular band who got a lot of fan (girls) base here.

Nevermind...

Lawson actually rocked! I was surprised. They were good live. Played their songs like Taking Over Me, Learn to Love Again & Standing in the Dark. And also some cover songs in Moves Like Jagger (Maroon 5) & Don't You Worry Child (Swedish House Mafia). The vocalist, Andy Brown, got a good vocal and the boys interacted well with the audience. I enjoyed it.

For a free showcase, this was a good show. Aided by a great combination of lighting and sound system. Thanks to organizers who brought them here.

Thank you, Lawson. And thank you, TonTon for the passes. Hehehe.

Audition, Liyana Fizi & Oblivion (movie review)

1. Isnin. 8 April 2013: The audition

Aku pergi audition untuk satu featured movie kat Stor DBP. Dapat info dari kenalan di Facebook. Aku ingatkan audition untuk projek filem pendek, sekali filem bajet besar so dari nervous tapi excited jadi lagi nervous dan lagi excited. First time try audition sebegini. Lepas tu jadi orang pertama pulak. Hah... memang 'terpadam' terus aku depan orang-orang yg casting tu. haha.

Tapi happy dan puas sebab akhirnya dapat gak datang try audition for a movie. New experience unlocked!

2. Selasa. 9 April 2013: Hangout with Liyana Fizi

Dapat jumpa Liyana Fizi for a hangout session anjuran Nescafe kat ofis SAYS yang sgt cool. Borak-borak pasal indie music scene kat Malaysia. Dapat info2 yang menarik dan berguna. Lepas borak, dia ada perform beberapa buah lagu. Nice to see her and my new friends performing intimately live. Then, makan-makan, tangkap gambar, main ping pong jap, borak2 dengan kawan baru & staf-staf SAYS (they are really cool and nice people!).

3. Selasa. 9 April 2013: Oblivion (Review)

Malam tu plak, aku pergi tengok Oblivion kat TGV OU (thanks, Churp-Churp for the tickets!).

Aku expect tahap movie ni macam 'Tron Legacy': overall so-so and grafik je lawa (sebab pengarah sama). Tapi last-last best n epik plak si Oblivion ni. Mula-mula agak bosan tapi lama-lama jadi menarik especially the storyline yg twisted sana sini. Not another typical post-apocalypse futuristic sci-fi flick. Tom Cruise macam biasa awesome. Olga tu okayla. Tapi yang paling berkesan ialah lakonan Andrea Riseborough sbg Vika. Efektif walaupun dia just a supporting character.

Walaupun ada flaws dan sci-fi cliches, Oblivion still gempak pada aku. Great special effects, action scenes and the storyline. Reminds me of 2001 A Space Odyssey, Total Recall & A.I. My movie of the year, so far.

Aku rate movie ni 4/5 bintang.

Thank you=)
