Review: Iron Man 3

I came into the cinema hall with a low expectation with that thought of Iron Man 2 being a just 'okay' IM sequel. I came into the cinema hall having watched all the trailers for like hundred times. And I came into the hall with a tired body, a bit sleep-deprived after enjoying last night's awesomeness at Bentley Music Damansara.

But Iron Man 3... whoa... This movie ROCKS!

The plot: Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) had to face the Mandarin (Ben Kingsley) who caused chaos around the globe. To make it more chaotic, along came Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce) with his 'hidden' motives towards both Tony and the world. So yeah, Iron Man had to face these two. Owh, and he had to solve some issues with beloved Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) who was such a show-stealer in this new sequel.

Did it deliver? From the beginning (cue that Eiffel's Blue song) until the end credit, the story was well-delivered and told. No scratching-my-confused-head moment. The director did a good job amidst some unnecessary scenes. Minor problems. And two things I like about IM3 is that it's full of interesting twists and that the trailers and teasers did a good job to hide the important scenes/plots, and somehow managed to mess with my general understanding about the movie. Nice job, Marvel!

The cast: All of them were great. Funny RDJ & Gwyneth were a dynamic duo as usual. Watch out for Gwyneth in this; her most jaw-dropping role among the three IM movies. Ben Kingsley was great as the Mandarin as well (hell yeah, what an actor he is! I really mean that). Don Cheadle (Iron Patriot), Rebecca Hall and Jon Favreau were good too in such limited screen times. But I've reserved my greatest admiration for Guy Pearce. Holy shit! He's done it again. I thought his villainous role in Lawless as his most terrifying one, but as Aldrich Killian... Holy shit! Guy Pearce; never disappoints. Please be a Bond villain next time.

The cinematography/effects: Watch out for the final battle. So cool! Watched it in IMAX 3D, maybe that's why. Hehe. Ermm, not recommending you guys to watch it in 3D, though. Not really worth it. Most important of all, no shaky camera-works. Phewwhhh~

Planned to watch it again soon. Deserved to be watched again and again=)

Rating: 4.5/5 stars.
