With Weird Superpower, Comes Weird Responsibilities...

If you were given a chance, what animal or living being superpowers would you want to get?

I feel tired of typing to blog. So this time around, I've decided to post a video instead (which contains an interesting answer to the question above.) Please do watch it. Honestly, I tried to pull a Smosh. Haha.

Enjoy=D

Yeah. The Hugger. Cool, right?

Imagine this; if Charlize Theron found out that there is someone who's prettier than her, she just needs a hug from The Hugger, and she would be Kristen Stewart in a blink of an eye. LOL!

Well, this is an entry post for The Amazing Spider-Man blogging contest organized by Nuffnang.  Thanks for the opportunity and I hope I can win it=)

And I just can't wait to see The Amazing Spider-Man (ehem2 especially Emma Stone cough2~) in cinema soon=D

Nando's Malaysia 'We Grill Champions' @ Paradigm Mall 2012

On June 17th, last Sunday, I've got an exclusive invitation from Says to attend Nando's Malaysia 'We Grill Champions' event at newly opened Paradigm Mall, Kelana Jaya.

There were a lot of fun activities and games in conjunction of finding a new Nando's 'Campeon' in town. It's a battle between two celebrities of the day, Harry Kok (green team) and Macho Kai (red team). And all the games were judged by Barci, the proud of Nando's.

Macho Kai giving an uplifting speech.

I was enrolled into the red team and I got a chance to help my team by kicking balls into net. Thankfully, I scored once. Haha. Nevermind. It was fun though. The other games like basket-minton, hanging-chicken eating competition and Coca Cola drinking challenge brought cheers and joys among the participants. The last challenge made me almost puke all over the floor. Erghh... Wow, how dedicated I was to the team just to win the challenge. (Ehem, I wanted that Canon DSLR soooo bad. LOL!)

At the end of the event, we all got a goodie bag each full of interesting stuffs (Holy shit! There's RM50 Nando's voucher!) Plus, we're being served with Nando's food and beverages during the entire event. Delicious food and lovely staffs.

With my friend, Haqq. He's cute.

I enjoyed it so much. It was memorable as on the same day, it's the first time I came to Paradigm Mall since its opening. After wandering around the mall, I came to the thought that it was a nice shopping complex with a lot of shops and leisure stops.

Thanks again to Says and Nando's Malaysia for such an enjoyable experience...

Thumb-wrestling!

... and long live Macho Kai!

Review: Jason Mraz Live @ Stadium Merdeka, KL 2012

Jason Mraz has done it again! This time, it was far more relaxing compared to his previous concert here at Stadium Negara back in 2009. I always doubted the sound quality of a concert held at Stadium Merdeka but last night, Jason Mraz fixed my perception. Like a fixer! Okay, nvm...

Awi Rafael opened the show with four songs. Simple and nice performance. And not long after that, Jason came with his wonderful band-mates. By this time, the stadium was already crowd-packed. The first song was 'Everything Is Sound', followed by 'The Freedom Song', both from his new album, Love is a Four Letter Word.

Jason made almost all of the audience to stand up and dancing. He continued playing songs from his new album like 'Frank D. Fixer' which is a song about his grandpa, 'Living in the Moment', the hidden track 'I'm Coming Over' and 'The Woman I Love'. He also played a lot of songs from We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things like 'Make It Mine', 'Only Human' and 'The Dynamo of Volition' (which is quite like an aerobic song. Haha). And... And... AND... surprisingly he played one of my fave haunting ballads, 'Mr. Curiosity'. Completed with that falsetto vocal! Easily, it's my pick for personal highlight of the night! YOU GO, JASON!!!

He managed to briefly sing 'Curbside Prophet' before straightaway singing 'The Remedy'. A beautiful stuff!  Then there were other biggest hits like 'You and I Both' which was played acoustically, 'Lucky' (an amazing duet with one of his band-mate. Penny Tai is forgiven.) and everyone's sing-along tune, 'I'm Yours' before Jason and the band went off the stage.

As expected (duh!), they came back on stage for three more songs. They played a song they didn't play last time, 'Bella Luna'. Next, it was '93 Million Miles'. I love this song. You should listen to the lyrics. A song about wherever you're going in this world, you have only one home and you will... okay, sorry I'm high.

Jason ended the show with 'I Won't Give Up'. That's another highlight of the night. It was perfect from the guitar-picking to his vocal and to the crowd's voices in the background.

Well, the ENTIRE concert was perfect from the time they started playing till the end. It was inspiring, heart-lifting, lotsa goosebumps moments and lotsa my fave songs being played. Except for 'Wordplay'. Again he missed it. Haihh... Clearly it's not Jason's fave, right? Never mind, I still love Jason Mraz and last night was awesome!

Thank you, Warner Music Malaysia for bringing Jason Mraz again to Malaysia. And thank you, Klubbkidd for the tickets=)

Review: William Beckett Live @ Black Box, Publika, KL 2012

I went to his show at Black Box, Publika last Sunday and it was satisfying worth it! Honestly, I only know some of his old songs when he was with The Academy Is. He'd just released his new solo album earlier this year and I didn't get the chance to explore it really, except for the catchy single, 'Compromising Me', and 'Oh Love'. Different vibes from TAI but that's alright for me.

But that night, he stole the show on his own. Almost 2 hours long. Around 20 songs played, old & new. Plus his intimate interaction with the crowd and brilliant opening acts in Lab the Rat and Estranged. I love LTR set so much! Lovely.

Lab the Rat

After Estranged, along came Beckett and his laptop (which functioned as drum machine for a couple of songs). He played new stuffs from his new EP ('Compromising Me' and 'Oh Love') and TAI songs (like 'Everything We Had' & 'About a Girl'). He also performed for the first time the new single called 'Great Night' from his upcoming new EP. The new song sounded amazing!

Two guitars, a lappy and Mr. Beckett.

The show finished around 10 o'clock but it didn't end there. There was a meet and greet session for all fans who went there. As the queue was too long, I decided not to join the march towards William. Hehe. But I managed to take a picture with him together before the gig.

I know... It's a shitty movie.

Again, for just RM50, this event's totally worth it=)

Thanks, DYS Booking Agency & Rockaway Festival!

The Other 10 Movies to Watch This Year!

When I said 'Other', it means that this list does not include some most-anticipated big movies like The Dark Knight Rises, Total Recall, The Expendables 2 or Django Unchained. These are 'other' movies that some people didn't realize about its existence so I just want to share about them.

Here it is:

1. Wreck-it Ralph (Animation, comedy)

An animation featuring real baddies/villains from the REAL gaming world. Just watch the trailer. It got Zangief & Bison (Street Fighter), Bowser (Mario Bros), Dr. Robonik (Sonic) and more! I think I saw Zelda too!

2. Gangster Squad (action, drama, thriller)

Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone... enough said.

3. Lawless (action, drama, thriller)

Tom Hardy, Guy Pearce, Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska, Gary Oldman... enough said.

4. Red Lights (supernatural-thriller, suspense)

It's been a while since I saw Cillian Murphy in a great movie (his appearance in 'In Time' & 'Retreat' sucks!). So I hope for this one to be really really good. Based on the trailer, this might get Cillian back on the track. It's a story of science vs. supernatural powers.

5. Premium Rush (action, thriller)

Joseph Gordon Levitt on the bicycle rush. Must be awesome.

6. Safety Not Guaranteed (drama, comedy, sci-fi maybe...)

Back in 2010, we got 'Monsters'. Last year, we have 'Another Earth'. This time, 'Safety Not Guaranteed' might be this year's surprise indie 'sci-fi', or a tale more than 'sci-fi'... Plus, Nick Miller (New Girl) is in this. The premise sounds interesting; a man advertised his offer to anyone who wants to accompany him to time travel back in the past.

7. A Fantastic Fear of Everything (thriller, comedy)

Simon Pegg (Paul, Hot Fuzz) in a tripping dark comedy. Looks fun.

8. Ted (comedy)

From the voice of Griffin (Family Guy), here comes Ted; a cute but foul-mouthed teddy bear. Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis are here too.

9. Being Flynn (drama)

I dig this because of the director, Chris Weitz, who brought me the brilliant 'About a Boy'. Being Flynn stars Paul Dano & Robert De Niro. A story about a complicated father/son relationship.

10. Smashed (drama)

Mary Elizabeth-Winstead in another 500-Days-of-Summer/Blue Valentine type of flick. Can't get enough of her since Final Destination 3. Dammit!

Just Some Songs I Wrote/Co-wrote.

Enjoy=)

My Mid-Year's Concert Journal

It is June! It is already mid 2012! Would you believe that??? Time moves slowly but it keeps on moving and moving without a break. And here we are, June! MID-2012 oledi!!!

The music scene here in Malaysia, this year, has been flooded with a lot of international music concerts/gigs (at least when compared to past years'). I really enjoy it. Experiencing many kind of live music performance; rock, pop, punk, acoustic set, live band, minus one music etc etc... I gotta meet some of these acts too. It was fun, really.

So here's the list of all concerts I've been to this year...

1. Simple Plan (KL Live)

I love them as my teenage memories. A nostalgic night with a lot of old songs they played which made me Jump, literally.

 (credit: Joshuaongys)

2. Dashboard Confessional (KL Live)

Chris Carrabba is the man! He owned the stage and the night. A quality solo performance at such a quality venue.

3. Avril Lavigne (Stadium Merdeka)

Like Simple Plan, she was one my fave female artists circa-Let Go album. Not at her best that night and she didn't sing a lot of her old stuffs so I was some kind of disappointed. Had a good time nevertheless.

4. Jessie J (Sunway Lagoon)

This is how a pop-star should be like. Energetic from beginning til the end. I started to love her since then. Her vocal range was amazing. Plus, that song about phone/camera. haha.

5. Sum 41 (KL Live)

Finally they came after cancelling their show at Rockaway 2011. It was good but should've been better. But they played all of my fave songs like We're All to Blame, In Too Deep and Fat Lip. Niceyyy!

6. Pixie Lott (KL Live)

I felt that the show was too short. But it's a free showcase, Adam. Okay, fine. She's still cute.

7. We The Kings (feat. We Are The In Crowd) ( Bukit Jalil National Stadium's Car Park F)

I enjoy the opening acts (Kyoto Protokol, Bunkface & Oh Chentaku). WATIC was meh. And I didn't get the chance to see We The Kings because it's almost 12am and I gotta go to work the next day. Bummer...

(credit: nataliechoong.blogspot.com)

8. Christina Perri (KL Live)

This show healed my wound of attending Pixie Lott and We The Kings before. Again, KL Live certified itself to be a great concert venue for any kind of music genre. I'm not a super-fan of CP but on that night, she was absolutely awesome. Every aspect of the event was great; CP, her band, the sound system, the crowd...

Next ones: William Beckett & Jason Mraz!!!

Can't wait for it=)

Reviews: Love is a Four Letter Word, Blunderbuss & Black and White

Title: Love is a Four Letter Word
Artist: Jason Mraz
Release: 2012
Fave tracks: I Won't Give Up, Be Honest, Frank D. Fixer, 93 Million Miles, The World As I See It AND a hidden track.
Note: Relaxing and beautiful. This time there's no wordplay/tongue-twisting like in his first two albums. I really like the lyrics contained in every song; so honest and straightforward.
Rate: 4.5/5 stars

Title: Blunderbuss
Artist: Jack White
Release: 2012
Fave tracks: Sixteen Saltines, Freedom at 21, Weep Themselves to Sleep & Love Interruption
Note: Don't expect The White Stripes here. The theme is blues/western + a lil bit of garage rock and Jack's signature guitar solo. I love the piano works in Weep Themselves as much as I love guitar solo in Freedom at 21. Towards the end of the album, it started to make me tired but the final track ended with a bang; tripping and powerful.
Rate: 4/5 stars

Title: Black And White
Band: The Maine
Release: 2010
Fave tracks: Don't Stop Now, Right Girl, Growing Up, Inside of You & Saving Grace
Note: I just bought this album recently. Man, I feel that I should've owned this one earlier! Although the music is like any other 'high-school' bands you've known, John's vocal and delivery is great (hear his screaming in Inside of You). That's the x-factor in The Maine. Most of the songs are pretty catchy too. I'm going to get Pioneer soon!
